Readable content

How much of your page a crawler can read before JavaScript runs.

Worth 15 of 100 in the audit score.

What we check

We fetch HTML without running JavaScript and measure readable text, checking whether content has been deferred into the browser.

Why it matters

A site can look complete to a human and arrive as an empty shell to a crawler. The words must be in the HTML for a model to quote them.

How to fix it

  • View the page with JavaScript disabled to see what a crawler reads.
  • Server-render or prerender content that matters.
  • Do not pad pages; the goal is to expose real content.
